This has influenced me to search for similar illustrations on CD covers including a male and female and any intimacy. The discovery of this has enlightened me to think about what Chris Cohen is trying to communicate to his audience through the song “If you only knew”, and makes me think about how I should be applying this message through my CD cover.
Also, his biography is worth a mention as it highlights his motifs behind his music and other bands that he admires;
"Chris Cohen, is a singer/songwriter who is driven by a strong passion for music. While attending college it was clearly evident, working hard to produce heartfelt music that speaks to enlighten, comfort and inspire.
Cohens melodic/adult contemporary songs embed intriguing lyrics, ambient tasteful sounds with playful rhythms and haunting melodies. An electro-acoustic palette that is somewhere along the avenues of bands like Coldplay, Keane and The Fray, where colorful pianos and warm guitars blend well and subtly add depth to a somewhat melancholic sound".
These would be such as The Fray, and Coldplay as well as his desire to express his music to enlighten, comfort and inspire.
The idea of enlightenment, inspiration and comforting sparks to me to create an approach of a musician sitting on a stage with his guitar and an audience in front of him (this being shot from behind). The intention of this shot would be that his music and lyrics would be telling a story to a listening audience, and just like stories, lyrics and music can hold morale’s, and can comply with his intention of his creativity of his music. To extend this, I did a general research into alternative rock music genre covers and discovered Snow Patrol. Also, the inclusion of the chosen instruments from the music in acoustic covers is a recognizable trend. I could use the idea of the guitar on the back panel of my CD cover.
